Al Wakrah, founded in 1959, are one of the oldest clubs in Qatar. They are located in the city of Al Wakrah in the south of Qatar.
The club’s logo is a mixture of light blue and white colours, and is the main reason they have been given the nickname of The Blue Waves.
The Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium is their home ground.

Poya Asbaghi is one of the new coaches who has joined the Qatar Stars League during the 2023-2024 season as coach of Al Shamal Club. The club announced that he would assume technical responsibility for the team until the end of the season then he was the coach of Al Rayyan and currently became a coach for Al Wakrah in season 2024-2025.
Asbaghi has been through a number of previous training experiences as he took over the Swedish club Gothenburg and won the championship for them. He also trained the Serbian Red Star club and also won the championship with the club.
He also trained Barnsley in the second division of the English Premier League in 2021 in addition to training the Sweden U-21 national team.
