Al Duhail were founded in 2009 under the name of Lekhwiya Sports Club. They are located in the Al Duhail area of Qatar’s capital Doha.
Nicknamed The Red Knights, Al Duhail have become a prominent side in Qatar and Asian football.
They are strong contenders in all tournaments and have won the Qatar Stars League title seven times, including in their debut season in 2010-11.

French coach Christophe Galtier took over the technical task of Al-Duhail Club, succeeding Argentine coach Hernan Crespo, during the 2023-2024 football season.
Galtier is considered one of the names that made his mark with French clubs, as he succeeded in winning the French League Cup title with Saint-Etienne, the French League title with Lille, while he won the French Champions Cup title with Paris Saint-Germain.
During his playing career, he played with a number of French clubs, including; Olympique Marseille, Lille, Toulouse, Angers, in addition to the Italian club Monza.
