Al Wakrah coach Poya Asbaghi spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 16 match against Al Khor.

“The schedule has been very crowded recently, whether after playing in the AFC Champions League Two or even after the last league match, and the matter here is related to the recovery and healing processes in addition to discussing all the details of upcoming competitors.

“We tried to focus on the upcoming match against Al Khor and study the strengths and weaknesses within the opposing team to know what we can do during the preparation for this game.

“Victories raise confidence levels within any team, so we seek to resume the series of victories until the confidence levels in the team return to their previous state,” said Asbaghi.

Al Wakrah player Omar Salah said, “The team is currently experiencing difficult times due to the series of negative results.

“I am confident, God-willing, that Al Wakrah will return to the path of victories starting with the next match against Al Khor, and although the preparation period for this important match was short, we will fight to get the three points.

“The match will not be easy and requires work and focus throughout, and I do not deny that we are going through a difficult period. But we will overcome this period because we actually have the ability to do so. We will do our utmost in every match we play, not just in the Al Khor match, in order to improve our position in the league table, because the current position of The Blue Wave does not suit the team’s capabilities.”
