A late Ataa Mohammmed Jaber strike saw Qatar SC pull off a 1-1 draw against Al Wakrah in Week 18 of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League at the Stadium 974 on Saturday.
Ataa struck in the 88th minute after The Blue Wave had moved into lead in added time of first half through Aymen Hussein (45+3 minute).
The result fetched Qatar SC a valuable point to take their tally to 21 points to remain in 10th place in the rankings, just clear of the relegation zone, and a run below Al Wakrah (also on 21 points) on goal difference.
While not a victory, yet it was a determined finish for Qatar SC, with Ataa stamping his class in fine style. The midfielder, who also represents the Palestinian national team, drilled home an almost 25-yard drive which found the inside top of the net on the left.
It was a see-saw affair for both sides and in both halves with, success being gained at the long end of each session.
Earlier in added time of opening half, Hussein made a fine diving header to a cross from the left from Ayoub Assal to put Al Wakrah in the lead.
The Blue Wave’s hard efforts were, however, dented in the end by Qatar SC’s consistent attempts to find the equalizer aided by Ataa’s braveheart strike.
In the first-leg match, Qatar SC had won 2-1 against Al Wakrah.
