Al Rayyan were established in 1967 after the merging of old Al Rayyan and Al Nusoor sports clubs. The Lions, as they are nicknamed, have enjoyed a trophy-laden past and have won the league championship eight times.
Al Rayyan last lifted the league shield in the 2015-16 season, which was their first title in 21 years.
Al Rayyan have a large and passionate fan base, and are a regular presence in all tournaments. They have a special place in Qatar football and contributed a huge number of players to various national teams.

Date of Birth:03/01/1983
Prominent Qatari coach Younes Ali took over the reins of Al Rayyan during the 2024-2025 season from Turk Poya Asbaghi.
Younes coached Al Arabi in the 2021-2022 season and guided them to triumph in 2022-2023 season Amir Cup in addition to Qatar-UAE Super Cup success in 2023-2024 season.
He was adjudged the Best Coach for 2022-2023 season in the Qatar Football Association Awards and was in the final list of nominees for the same award in 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons as well.
Younes had successful coaching stints with Qatar SC and also Al Markhiya in the Second Division.
He is one of the former stars of Qatar national team and played for several clubs, including Al Rayyan and Al Ahli.
