With the QSL coming to a halt for international qualifiers, QSL online decided to take a closer look at some key statistics from the previous two rounds of action. All Statistics are provided by Prozone, the statistical partner of the Qatar Stars League.

So far the QSL has seen plenty of goals in just two rounds; teams have found the back of the net on 48 occasions so far, with the average goals to game ratio at a high 3.43. The early season has seen plenty of action on the pitch, with Lekhwiya’s 5-4 victory over Gharafa the highest scoring encounter of the season so far.

In terms of average ground covered in a game it’s interesting to note that the two bottom sides in the league have the top two players on the list. Brazilian midfielder William Schulster of last placed Muaither has so far covered 24.4km whilst Kooky Han of Al Gharafa is just behind with 22.2km over two games. More impressive perhaps is that the players have clocked up these distances during the humidity of September, highlighting the fitness of the players.

Unsurprisingly Xavi leads the way with the most passes in the opening two games of the league. The midfield maestro has so far completed 168 passes in two matches, significantly more than his nearest rival. Al Sadd’s captain also heads up the most forward passes category, with 71 over two games. Xavi’s composure in the center of the park has also given Al Sadd two wins from two in the opening games of the season.

Lekhwiya currently top the QSL standings and their blistering start can be attributed to their accuracy in front of goal. The Red Knights have taken the joint most of shots over the last two games at 39. Whilst scoring a league leading tally of 9 goals. This means that Djamel Belmadi’s side scores a goal every 4.3 shots they take. Lekhwiya’s success in finding the net has also meant that second round hat-trick hero Nam Tae Hee is the joint leading goal scorer in the league.

QSL sides will now be using this key information to improve their performance ahead of the third round of action which starts on Friday the 14th of October.
