Title holders Lekhwiya beat Al Khor by two goals to none in a fast past and one sided encounter at their home ground – the Abdullah bin Khalifa stadium yesterday evening.
Both goals came in the second half when the mercurial Vladimir Weiss received a pass from fellow danger man Nam Tae-Hee on the left wing, just outside the area. The Slovak controlled it and struck a curling effort past the rooted Hassan Idriss Dicko into the top right corner(68’).
Then late on, Ali Hassan Afif scored the second to add a gloss to the result and once more puts the Red Knights back at the top of the Qatar Stars League standings (83’).
The Red Knights also profited from a poor showing by Al Sadd who drew their game against Sailiya 1-1 yesterday night. Sadd’s inability to win means that they move into second with 20 points and Lekhwiya are a single point ahead.
Al Wakrah for their part, find themselves in 10th spot after only managing to win 2 games from 8. They currently have 7 points in the Qatar Stars League.
