Al Shamal face reigning champions Al Sadd in Week 17 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League at the Al Arabi Stadium on Friday, March 17, 2023. The kick-off is at 17:00.

Al Shamal will be looking to compensate for their 0-1 loss against Umm Salal in the postponed match from Week 10.

On the other hand, Al Sadd are in a must-win situation if they are to cherish hopes of retaining the league shield, especially after being held to a 2-2 draw by leaders Al Duhail in the postponed match from Week 10.

Al Shamal had beaten Al Sadd 2-1 in the first leg of 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League.

Both Al Shamal and Al Sadd had won in Week 16, against Qatar SC (3-0) and Al Sailiya (4-0) respectively.

Al Shamal are placed ninth with 14 points (four wins, two draws and nine defeats), while Al Sadd are third with 29 points (nine victories, two draws and five defeats).

Al Shamal coach Wesam Rizik will have at his disposal the likes of Moroccan Yacine Bammou and Iraqi Amjad Atwan among others. They are not far from the danger zone, so are sure to be fighting for full points.

Al Sadd coach Juanma will have a tough task on hand as they are trailing Al Duhail amd Al Arabi. He will rely more on Baghdad Bounedjah, Akram Afif, Santi Cazorla and Hassan Al Haydous.
