Al Wakrah coach Poya Asbaghi spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 13 match against Al Arabi.
“After the Challenge Cup match, we focused on recovery and then began the journey of preparing for the Al Arabi match, focusing on some aspects that we need to improve in the team. I believe that the opportunity is favourable for us to reach the best possible level of readiness.
“I think that for us it is related to focusing on our performance and focusing on what we want to do as a team. We are coming from a recent match in the Challenge Cup in which we made a great effort, as the players fought as one team and worked hard for 90 minutes.
“There is a mental aspect to this matter, which is to continue with the same approach in every training session, especially in every league match, and as long as our team continues to show this side that it showed last week, Al Wakrah will always be a team that fights to achieve victories,” said Asbaghi.
Al Wakrah player Aissa Laidouni said, “The strong match that we played in the Challenge Cup recently was the best preparation for the upcoming Al Arabi match, which we started preparing for after the recovery process and we will continue preparing in the coming hours.
“I am very happy to be at Al Wakrah club and I am certainly happy with what I am doing. I know very well that I can offer more and do a lot, and I am working on that. I am an optimistic person and generally happy with everything I do here, but I always aspire for more.”
