Umm Salal’s Under-23 team coach Miguel Coley, who replaced Patrice Carteron, spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 10 match against Al Ahli.
“The team is strongly prepared to achieve a positive result and is fully prepared. I held several meetings with the players and asked them to focus and enter the match with enthusiasm in order to achieve a satisfactory result against Al Ahli. I noticed through these meetings a strong desire among all the players to give their best and exert maximum effort.
“I will lead the team for this match only. The match against Al Ahli will of course be strong and difficult, but we are fully prepared and will do our best to come out with a positive result.
“It is not easy in such games, but let us see on the field. Every team enters the match excited to win the three points and this is very natural. For me, I am ready and prepared for this task and I have enough experience in such situations, as I have previously undertaken many training tasks in tournaments such as Copa America and World Cup qualifiers, in addition to my experience with different teams in Iran and the UAE.
“The goal during the short period in which I took over the task is to prepare the team well to appear in a great way in the Al Ahli match. We will work hard to present our best and show the Umm Salal team in a distinctive way in this match,” said Miguel.
Umm Salal goalkeeper Louay Ashour said, “All players are ready to enter the match with a fighting spirit and great enthusiasm in order to achieve victory.
“We are strongly prepared to meet Al Ahli and we will enter the match with great determination in order to win. Nothing is impossible in football and all Umm Salal players are ready. I hope that we appear well and are in a better position to achieve the three points.
“We hope that the recent change in the technical staff will be a strong motivation for the players to win.”
