Al Ahli and Al Shahania will face off in a crucial Week 9 match of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League at the Al Thumama Stadium on Friday, November 1, 2024. The kick-off is at 7.30pm.

The match is very important for both teams given their positions in the rankings and for their progress in the league championship.

Al Ahli are currently in third place in the standings with a tally of 15 points and ahead on goal difference with Al Sadd, the second-placed team. Al Ahli have so far notched four wins besides three draws and have suffered only one loss. The team has scored 15 goals and conceded 11.

In contrast, Al Shahania are in 10th place with eight points (from two wins, as many draws and four defeats). They have scored 10 goals and conceded 14.

The match is expected to be highly exciting, given the form and fitness both Al Ahli and Al Shahania have shown in their previous rounds. No side would give away anything, making for the battle to be a close one and of high value with the league now nearing the half-way mark of the season.

Al Shahania’s Spanish coach Alvaro Mejia will be keen for his team to be well prepared because Al Ahli have been steamrolling in their previous rounds. Mejia has certainly worked on finding a solution to some his team’s defensive and offensive shortcomings.

Meanwhile, Al Ahli’s Croatian coach Igor Biscan will be looking for his team’s good group of players, most notably Moroccan star Driss Fettouhi and Oumar Sekou, who has scored five goals in the championship so far, Bahaa Ellethy and goalkeeper Marwan Sherif, among other players to excel in the match.
