Al Shamal coach Poya Asbaghi spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 12 match against Al Arabi.

“A strong match awaits us against a distinguished team that has players at the highest level and has tremendous potential and great experience, and they are also coming from a valuable victory at the expense of Al Sadd, who are at the top of the table.

“We previously faced Al Arabi in the first leg of the league and we showed that when we perform well we can compete with them, so I hope we will perform at the same level in Wednesday’s match.

“Achieving a positive result will be the team’s goal in the next game in order to advance a step in the league standings,” said Asbaghi.

Al Shamal player Younes El Hannach said, “We look forward to giving a good performance in the Al Arabi match and we seek to score three points and achieve a positive result before the next break for the league.

“Al Shamal are progressing at a good pace and providing good levels even in the matches we lost, such as the Al Sadd match and then the Al Gharafa match, which ended in a draw with one goal for each team.

“The team’s ranking is not far from the bottom positions in the league table, so we have to collect the largest number of points to advance in the ranking.”
