Al Duhail face Persepolis of Iran in the sixth and last round (Group E) of 2023-2024 AFC Champions League at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. The kick-off is at 7pm.

Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia officially qualified for the Round of 16 with an unassailable 13 points. Persepolis are second in the group with eight points, Al Duhail third with four points and FC Istiklol of Tajikistan last with two points.

The top side from each group will advance to the Round of 16 along with the best three second-placed teams from among the five West Asian groups.

In the fifth round, Al Duhail had defeated FC Istiklol by a 2-0 margin, for their only victory in the tournament so far.

Al Duhail drew one match and lost the other three games, including the home leg against Persepolis (0-1).

It is certain that Al Duhail will seek to compensate for that loss happened under Argentinian coach Hernan Crespo, who has now been replaced by Frenchman Christopher Galtier.

Al Duhail’s results have gradually been improving under Galtier and The Red Knights put up outstanding performance against Al Nassr in Riyadh as well as Doha before going down fighting.

The French coach wants to correct the mistakes and take advantage of the last match in the AFC Champions League to raise the morale of the players before returning to the Expo Stars League competition, especially after their 0-1 loss to Umm Salal in Week 10. Al Duhail have two postponed matches, against Al Wakrah and Al Sadd.
