Umm Salal coach Wesam Rizik spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 12 match against Al Ahli.

“I am waiting for us to play better and achieve a better result against Al Ahli. I expect my team to play strongly and restore the winning streak.

“The team is ready at full strength and the players went through the training sessions with enthusiasm. I am eagerly waiting for the team to bounce back after the loss against Qatar SC. The setback will be an incentive for the players to improve and to play better. The difficult situation the team is going through and our ranking in the league table is not commensurate with its talent and we have talked with the players a lot. And I see that they have a great desire to achieve the three points.

“There is no pressure on the players. We will enter the match against Al Ahli with renewed determination. We shall be playing our Moroccan defender Adel Rhaili and we hope that the fighting spirit will return. This is the most important thing now. Our match against Al Ahli will be a breakthrough for the team,” said Wesam.

Umm Salal player Valentino Yuel, said, “The team has been seriously preparing for the match against Al Ahli, and we hope to be technically and physically ready. We lost our last match due to some mistakes which we shall not repeat.

“The match is important for us because we haven’t achieved the best in our last two matches and we must fight for a win to improve our position and show the quality of our players.”
