Umm Salal and Al Sailiya played out a 1-1 draw in Round 5, Group A of the 2022-2023 season Ooredoo Cup at the Al Ersal 2 Stadium on Friday.

While Mehrdad Mohammadi scored in the seventh minute, Atef Mohammed got the equalizer in the 42nd minute for Umm Salal.

Despite their first draw result, Umm Salal, who had already made it to the semifinals after Round 4, topped Group A with 13 points (four wins and a draw).

For Al Sailiya, it was their first draw result after four losses. They ended up with one point.

Al Sadd, Al Wakrah, Al Ahli and Qatar SC are the other teams in Group A.

Group B consists of Al Duhail, Al Markhiya, Al Arabi, Al Shamal, Al Gharafa and Al Rayyan.

Although the rival teams were in complete contrast in the standings, the match, as expected, was not easy for either side. Al Sailiya gave a good account of themselves with a fighting finish.

Both teams battled hard in the second half, but failed to produce any more goal.
