Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 14 match against Qatar SC.

“We are making every possible effort during the preparations, and I believe that overcoming this obstacle will not be easy and requires great efforts from all players due to the strength of the opponent, and we focused during the training on preparing the team well.

“Qatar SC are now in a better condition and they are ahead of Al Wakrah in the standings by a point difference, and I am well aware that this match will be difficult for the two teams because of the desire of each team to collect all the points.

“We are able to quickly return to the top four, especially in view of the proximity of points between most teams, and we are well aware that winning one match will bring us back again. What is important now is the team’s performance and results, and I do not want to say this team is in fourth or sixth place because time is still too early to decide such matters,” said Marquez.

Al Wakrah player Mohammed Al Abbasi said, “Every match is important for The Blue Wave and everyone is aware of the importance of the points from the Qatar SC match.

“We seek to return to the top four and Qatar SC seek to maintain their position, hence the difficulty of the match.

“During the losses that we have suffered recently, the team was not lucky and we missed the final touch in ending the attacks despite the opportunities that were available to us. We were unable to achieve victories and therefore I hope that we learn from the lessons of the past so that we can adjust the position of the team in ranking table.”
