Al Shamal face Al Sailiya in the last match in Week 13 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League at the Qatar SC Stadium on Sunday. The kick-off is at 19:00.

The match is of particular importance to both teams who seek full points, especially Al Sailiya who are rooted to the bottom of standings with only four points (one win, a draw and nine defeats) following a series of setbacks. Their last reversal was against Al Gharafa (1-2) in Week 12.

On the other hand, Al Shamal, placed eighth with 10 points (three wins, a draw and five defeats), will try to improve their position and compensate for their 1-2 loss to Al Rayyan in the last round.

Al Sailiya had beaten Al Shamal by a 2-1 margin in the first leg and that incidentally is The Peregrines’ only victory in this season’s league championship.

Al Shamal, coached by Hisham Zahid, is keen that his players collect the three points that will also boost their morale.

They have the likes of Amjad Atwan, Yacine Bammou, Salmeen Ateeq, Matias Nani and Loic Landre among others.

On the other hand, Al Sailiya will face a real test as they need to make a turnaround in their fortunes sooner rather than later. Tunisian Sami Trabelsi and his wards are well aware of the uphill task they have on hand.

The Al Sailiya ranks include players, such as Moroccan newcomer Ismail Khafi, Sergio Vittor, Magdi Siddiq and Sergio Carlos Strandberg.
