Al Rayyan are placed ninth in the standings with 11 points from 13 fixtures, ahead of Al Shamal on goal difference. The Lions, coached by Chilean Nicholas Cordova, have won three matches, drawn two and lost eight games.

Umm Salal are at the bottom of the table with nine points from 14 matches, behind Al Sailiya on goal difference. The Orange Fortress, under Moroccan Talal El Karkouri, have only one victory to their credit while they drew six matches and lost seven games.

Umm Salal had lost 1-2 to Al Markhiya in their postponed match from Week 8 last Saturday. They had played out a goalless draw with Al Wakrah in Week 15.

Al Rayyan were not in action in Week 15 due to their AFC Champions League 2022 Round of 16 face-off against Al Duhail, which the latter won 7-6 on penalties.

Al Rayyan had beaten Al Ahli by a 4-0 margin in Week 14.

Only two points separate Al Rayyan and Umm Salal, and both teams will be keen on staying away from the danger zone.
