Al Duhail coach Christophe Galtier spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 17 match against Al Shahania.
“We had to get rid of the last defeat against Al Sadd and read the match better. We worked to regain our spirit and prepare for the next match. Before the expulsion of Ibrahima Bamba in the last match, our performance was very good. I had to make some changes to deal with the matter and I confirm that I take full responsibility for the reasons for the defeat. I asked the players to forget this match and not be negatively affected by this defeat and prepare well to face Al Shahania.
“We followed Al Shahania’s matches. They have a good team. They caused us some problems in the first-leg match. They are an organized team with distinguished players. Compared to the first leg, we face some problems, especially on the offensive side. Of course, there are reasons for this, but some of the reasons should be inside the dressing room.
“We have two players who will miss the next match, namely Almoez Ali due to cards and Bamba due to red card against Al Sadd. We must maintain our style of play, especially on the offensive side. There is no such thing as attempts to avenge the first-leg defeat against Al Shahania. It is just a match to continue progressing. We are still in the lead so far and we seek to move forward,” said Galtier.
Al Duhail player Hakim Ziyech said, “This match will be of great importance, especially considering the result of last week. The team has 6 matches left until the end. We have started to enter the decisive stage. Every point is of great value.
“From the first moment I arrived, I felt very welcome. The administrative staff, the technical staff and my teammates did everything they could to help me adapt quickly. Everyone’s support, both on and off the pitch, made me feel comfortable from the start. That trust and harmony developed over time and I am grateful to be in an environment that helps me shine and give my best.”
