Umm Salal will be up against Al Duhail in their Week 14 clash of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League at the Grand Hamad Stadium of Al Arabi club on Friday, January 31, 2025. The kick-off is at 4.30pm.
The match brings together two teams seeking to return to winning ways after they suffered a loss of points in the previous round. Therefore, each side is looking to improve their position, especially Al Duhail who aim to continue to strengthen their hold at the top of the rankings.
Umm Salal suffered a 0-4 loss to Al Shamal in Week 13 and are in ninth place with a tally of 14 points, behind on goal difference from Al Shahania (eighth).
Leaders Al Duhail have 29 points, despite a goalless draw in the last round with Al Rayyan and seek to go further at the top, given the marginal two-point difference with second-placed Al Gharafa.
Umm Salal too are looking to strengthen position in the standings after their recent loss and will be relying more on players like Marouane Louadni, Victor Lekhal, Kenji Gorre and Antonio Mance.
In contrast, Al Duhail coach Christophe Galtier would want his team to secure the lead and move forward. He would be relying on his players’ capabilities and high morale to continue their march at the top, at the same time being aware of the strength of Umm Salal.
Galtier would therefore want Al Duhail to mix caution with aggression and will plan on building the game given the abilities of his players, most notably Almoez Ali, Luiz Alberto, Bassam Al Rawi, Michael Olunga and Ismail Mohammed among others.
