Al Shamal and Al Arabi will meet in Week 7 of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League at the Al Khor Stadium on Saturday, October 19, 2024. The kick-off is at 5.30pm.
The two teams are set to compete vigorously in their upcoming match, aiming for victory and the acquisition of three points to enhance their standings while addressing the errors that have previously resulted in the loss of valuable points.
Al Shamal suffered a 2-4 defeat to Al Ahli in the sixth week, whereas Al Arabi secured a 2-1 win against Al Rayyan. Consequently, this match will serve as a chance for Al Shamal to seek redemption, while Al Arabi aim to continue their winning streak.
Currently, Al Shamal occupy the seventh position with seven points, sharing the same point total as Al Arabi, who are in eighth place on goal difference.
The teams are evenly matched in terms of points, which is expected to intensify the competition as both sides are eager to outdo one another and improve their standings. A victory would significantly boost morale, particularly for Al Shamal, which have been delivering commendable performances under the guidance of coach Nuno Almeida.
He is counting on key players such as Baghdad Bounedjah, the team's leading scorer and the top scorer in the league with six goals, along with Jeison Murillo, Mahdi Salem, Omid Ebrahimi, Tilal Ali and Younes Belhanda.
On the other hand, Al Arabi, under the guidance of coach Anthony Hudson, aim to build on their recent success following a victory over Al Rayyan in the sixth week. This win has significantly boosted the players’ morale, potentially aiding them in overcoming Al Shamal. The team approaches the upcoming match with confidence, having secured two consecutive victories in the QSL Cup against Al Shahania and Al Duhail during the third and fourth rounds.
The squad is bolstered by the talents of Yousef Msakni, Abdou Diallo, Helal Mohammed, Marco Verratti, Ahmed Fathy, Jassim Jaber and Jassim Al Hail among others.
