Al Ahli coach Igor Biscan spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 1 match against Al Wakrah.
“I am confident of our team presenting a distinguished appearance in the Ooredoo Stars League against Al Wakrah team in the first round of the competition.
“We have worked well towards preparing to be more technically and mentally strong. I realize that the league includes top-level clubs and the competition in the league championship it will not be easy. Therefore, as a coach my focus has been on preparing the players to be up to the desired level and to develop on the collective aspect as also individually.
“We are ready for an enthusiastic start to the competition. The work the coaching team has done with the team during the preparatory period has been up to the mark and hopefully the results will show in our upcoming matches. The players are excited to do their best in the competition.
“Our aim to make an effort and focus on all our matches. The league championship will be strong and there will be no easy games, and the competition will be very challenging given the top the preparations of all the clubs.
“We have to be more confident and believe in our abilities on the field to achieve a result that satisfies the club’s fans. We respect all our competitors in the league, first and foremost the Al Wakrah team, whom we meet in our opening match of the season,” said Biscan.
Al Ahli goalkeeper Marwan Sherif said, “We are ready for the start the new season. We have prepared well both in Doha and later at our overseas training camp in the Netherlands. The camp as very successful both in training and the four friendly matches that we played there.
“As players we are very focused on having a good start and well realize that facing Al Wakrah will not be easy. We have studied our opponents and we will work to provide a good contest.”
