Al Khor and Al Gharafa will face each other in Week 1 of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Al Bayt Stadium. The kick-off is at 8.30pm.
The match will be strong and exciting between the two teams and is not subject to speculation or pre-calculations in view of each team’s desire to win the points, as Al Khor, returning after two seasons in the Second Division, seek to win the match and score the first three points, which is the goal that Al Gharafa will also seek.
The coaches of both teams are certainly aware of the importance of such matches in order to perform at their best as the new season kicks off.
Al Khor succeeded in returning to the Ooredoo Stars League after winning the Second Division title last season under coach Abdullah Mubarak, who will be looking to achieve the best this season.
During the current summer transfer window, Al Khor signed Ivorian striker Yohan Boli from Al Gharafa on a one-season loan, Portuguese defender Ruben Semedo from Al Duhail for a season, Iraqi striker Ayman Hussein and player Ethini Marcel from Al Bidda SC.
Al Gharafa, third in the league last season, made the most notable deal of the summer with the signing of Spanish striker Joselu from Real Madrid and Romanian international Florinel Coman, while Algerian winger Farid Boulaya and Brazilian defender Lyanco left the team.
Both sides are looking to provide the best in the first round, having had a number of technical and physical training sessions and played friendly matches during their overseas camps.
