Al Rayyan take on Umm Salal in the opening match in Week 1 of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium of Al Rayyan club on Friday, August 9, 2024. The kick-off is at 6.30pm.

Each team will be eager for a strong start in the league championship in the new season by collecting the first three points.

Both sides had presented a distinguished level in the competition last season, during which Al Rayyan came in second place with 47 points and were strong contenders for the title, while Umm Salal came finished seventh with 28 points.

Each team has prepared strongly for this season through extensive technical and physical training at their overseas training camps where they also played a number of friendly matches and during which coaches of both teams have worked towards getting the greatest possible technical benefit, in addition to completing the preparations after returning to Doha.

Al Rayyan are under Swedish coach Poya Asbaghi, who succeeded Portuguese Leonardo Jardim, while French coach Patrice Carteron continues with Umm Salal. It is certain that each of them will put in their best for their wards.

They have contracted high-level players, with Al Rayyan strengthening their ranks with Spaniard David Garcia and Belgian Julien De Sart, while Umm Salal have signed up Croatian Antonio Mansi and others.
