Umm Salal coach Patrice Carteron spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 22 match against Al Markhiya.

“We enter the Al Markhiya match with strength, looking forward to ending the season with a win and advanced position in the standings.

“I am happy with the strong performance provided by the players, regaining victories and achieving wins over Al Arabi and Al Duhail, and the fighting spirit they display. We are able to continue those victories and win over Al Markhiya in the final round of league.

“Umm Salal have done a lot this season and our goal is to end the season with a win to advance to a better position. It is definitely an important and strong match,” said Carteron.

Umm Salal player Omar Yahya said, “The players’ preparations for the match against Al Markhiya went off well, so it is certain that it will be a strong match for both sides.

“We seek to end the season in an ideal way and reach an advanced position, especially since the team has improved greatly over the past period, and the victory over Al Arabi and then Al Duhail gave us a great morale boost and led to our advancement to sixth place, although the team deserves a better position than sixth based on our performance during the season. We aim victory in the Al Markhiya match and strive to reach fifth place.”
