Qatar SC defeated Muaither 5-3 in Week 21 of the 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League at the Grand Hamad Stadium of Al Arabi club on Wednesday.

Yohan Boli got a brace (43rd and 51st minutes) for Qatar SC, while Bruno Tabata (12th minute) and Badr Benoun (31st minute) added their own before an own goal from Muaither’s Mohammed Salah El Neel (90+4 minute).

Muaither’s goals were scored by Tiago De Leonco (eighth and 89th minutes) and Saif Hassan Al Mohannadi (27th minute).

With the result, Qatar SC are now on 22 points, while Muaither remained on 14 points.

Tiago gave Muaither the lead in the eighth minute with a left-footed shot after a headed pass from Hugo Gomes, following a corner kick, to give the relegation-battling team a dream start.

Four minutes later, Tabata was twice lucky as he restored parity for Qatar SC, firing home a thunderbolt of a shot from the rebound of his initially-blocked free-kick.

Muaither got their lead restored in the 27th minute through Al Mohannadi after an overlapping run by Denis Alibec saw him lay up a sublime pass to the Qatari player, who finished off with a right-angle low shot.

The lead, however, only lasted for four minutes as Benoun equalised for The Kings after Muaither goalkeeper Ivanildo Rodrigues mishandled the ball from a corner kick, resulting in the simplest of finish from the Qatar SC centre-back.

Qatar SC took the lead for the first time in the match in the 43rd minute through Boli, who was perfectly placed to finish off a long overhead pass from Tabata to ensure his team went into the halftime break in a good mood.

Qatar SC further pulled away from their opponents, with Boli bagging his second of the night and the fourth for his club in the 51st minute off Eisa Ahmad to ensure a more comfortable lead.

Tiago pulled one back for Muaither in the 89th minute from an assist by Abdulghani Muneer and while it seemed that another sensational draw was on the way, an own goal by El Neel, who turned the ball into his own net, in an attempt to clear a cross from Qatar SC substitute Ali Awad in the fourth minute of added time restored The Kings’ two-goal advantage.

That proved to be the last major action of the night as Qatar SC secured a great finish and bagged the maximum points.
