Al Shamal face Al Wakrah in their postponed Week 13 match of the 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League at the Al Bayt Stadium on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. The kick-off is at 6.30pm.
Both teams would go into the clash looking to overcome their loss in the previous round (Week 20), where Al Shamal lost to Qatar SC (1-2) and Al Wakrah went down to Al Arabi (2-4).
Al Shamal are currently in seventh place in the rankings with 21 points and seek points to rise higher in the table, while Al Wakrah are in fourth place with 37 points and aim to strengthen their position.
Results of the previous round have affected both Al Shamal and Al Wakrah, especially the former who could get into complex calculations with several teams in the danger zone.
Al Shamal coach Poya Asbaghi would therefore want his side to find winning ways, relying on his prominent players like Matias Nani, Hamed Mansour, Ricardo Gomez and others. They would also miss some players out with injuries.
For Al Wakrah, a win would see them advance and brighten chances. Coach Jose Murcia would be looking for his team to iron out the flaws, which saw them fall to Al Arabi, and return to winning ways to challenge the other leading teams.
Murcia has the services of prominent players Lucas Mendes, Mohamed Benyettou, Almahdi Ali, Hamdi Fathi, Omar Yahya and Jacinto Dala among others.
