Al Wakrah coach Jose Murcia spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 20 match against Al Arabi.
“After the last match against Qatar SC, we first worked on the physical recovery process for the players and then focused on mental preparation for the next match, in conjunction with the technical and tactical preparation for this important game.
“Our competitor in the next match is a big club and a strong team, and it is certainly not the ideal season for them, but that does not prevent us from emphasizing that they are one of the strongest teams in the league and we respect this team as we respect all our competitors.
“We must show our best in the last four matches, because all possibilities are present in the final stages and the goal is very close to all teams. The competition has become stronger between the four teams in the top four and we are focusing first on the next match,” said Murcia.
Al Wakrah’s Australian defender Trent Sainsbury said, “The competitor is a strong team and although they have not achieved the required results in the recent period, they remain a strong team.
“Al Wakrah are also moving at a good pace and have achieved many positive results in the recent period, so we are focusing on getting the three points from this match. I confirm that we have no alternative but to achieve victory against Al Arabi.
“Al Arabi have good strikers and they need careful attention from the defenders throughout the course of the match to prevent them from reaching the goal. I hope that we will have the necessary focus in order to carry out this task to the fullest extent.”
