Al Ahli coach Pedro Miguel spoke to the media ahead of his team’s 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 11 match against Al Wakrah.

“Al Ahli did not deserve to lose the game against Al Rayyan, but in football there are matches where a team performs at a distinguished level yet ends up on the losing side. As a coach, I focus on good performance, developing the team and correcting mistakes in order to achieve victories.

“Our match against Al Wakrah will not be easy due to the strength of the opponents and their technical stability. Therefore, it is necessary to enter the match with full concentration in order to return to the path of victories.

“I have complete confidence in the ability of our players in achieving a win against one of the strongest teams in the league. Al Wakrah deserve to be among the teams in the top four due to their distinguished level and great ability to achieve their goal on the field, but it will also act as an incentive for us to prepare well and for the players to put up a good fight against a strong competitor.

“We are short on a number of players due to injuries and some absences due to suspension, but the team will play the match with the remaining players and I have confidence in each of the players,” said Pedro Miguel.

Al Ahli player Mohammed Ayyash said, “The team gave a good performance against Al Rayyan but, as players, we are now looking ahead on providing their best against Al Wakrah with the aim of coming out with the points.

“Al Wakrah are considered as one of the strongest teams in the league and we will make every effort for a positive result.

“The match will not be easy but as players, we go into every match with the spirit of winning and performing well and we are certain that good performance will lead to victory.”
