Al Ahli coach Nebojsa Jovovic spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 18 match against Al Shamal.

“The importance of the match lies in the need to win and return to the winning path after we suffered losses in the last two rounds, against Qatar SC and Al Wakrah.

“It was necessary to take advantage of the break to equip the players and prepare the team to present a distinguished technical level against Al Shamal. Our goal in this match would be to win and return to the winning path.

“Al Shamal are a strong team and appeared with a better face and a stronger level than their beginning in the competition, which makes it a strong match.

“I have full respect for the Al Shamal team and its ambitions in the league, but I focus on my team only and not on our competitors. I believe that Al Ahli, with their high spirit and desire for distinguished performance and results, are ready to face any team and achieve the result that we seek. The technical staff of the team worked in the past period to prepare the players in order for the squad to be in full technical strength for the match,” said Nebojsa.

Al Ahli player Abdulrasheed Ibrahim said, “We must provide the best technical and physical levels against Al Shamal in order to return to the winning path.

“We are looking forward to achieve victory in the match and that as players we will make every effort to achieve that goal. The team suffered in the past two matches due to the lack of options that were available to the technical staff. We missed a large group of players due to injuries, but now the squad is full and everyone will work to win.
