Khalifa International Stadium will host the Week 1 match of 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League between Qatar SC and Al Duhail on Saturday, August 10, 2024. The kick-off is at 6.30pm.
Both teams are looking to achieve a positive result at the beginning of the season to give more confidence and enthusiasm to the players, and each team is looking to win and have a strong start, so they will try to give their best.
Qatar SC prepared for the season by having a camp in Spain, during which they played some friendlies, before completing their preparations in Doha. They played a final friendly match with Al Rayyan, which they lost 2-5.
The team also signed Brazilian midfielder Carlinhos from Portugal’s Portimonense and renewed Spaniard Javi Martinez’s contract in addition to retaining Moroccan defender Badr Benoun, Congolese Ben Malango, Cameroonian Raoul Sanda and Ali Saoudi. They also signed Abdulaziz Al Ansari from Al Arabi.
The team is guided by coach Yousef Al Noubi, who has achieved positive results since he took charge before the end of the league last season, taking the team as far as the final of Amir Cup, where they narrowly lost 0-1 to Al Sadd. The club management has confidence in him and has renewed his contract for the new season.
It may be noted that Qatar SC finished eighth in the league table last season with 25 points.
Al Duhail, on the other hand, will enter the competition this season looking to make up for what they lost last season, during which they finished sixth with 28 points. They are expected to start the season strongly to compete for first place from the start considering their strong preparation for the season, which included an overseas camp in Austria and several friendly matches.
The team is under French coach Christophe Galtier, who took over the technical task last season. Al Duhail have a number of distinguished players, most notably Michael Olunga, Edmilson Junior, Lucas Verissimo, Ibrahima Bamba, Ibrahima Diallo, Almoez Ali and Sultan Al Breik.
The Red Knights also signed Spanish Luis Alberto in addition to Homam Al Ameen from Al Gharafa and goalkeeper Amir Hassan from Al Arabi on loan, while Brazilian Philippe Coutinho left them for his former club Vasco de Gama.
