Tunisian star Yousef Msakni was deservedly the most prominent star in Week 9 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League after he steered Al Arabi to victory resulting in them regaining the lead from Al Duhail, who were atop the table for 24 hours.
Msakni scored Al Arabi’s both goals against Al Wakrah as The Dream Team won 2-1 to be on 22 points and back on top of the table.
In the process, Msakni benefited personally as he moved on to seven goals, along with Al Duhail’s Michael Olunga. They are just one goal behind Al Wakrah’s Angolan forward Jacinto Dala.
They are followed by Jordanian star Yazan Al Naimat of Al Ahli (six goals), Al Arabi’s Omar Al Somah and Yacine Brahimi of Al Gharafa (both five goals).
Msakni, who displays very impressive levels with Al Arabi this season, proves week after week that he is a strong addition to their offensive line. He makes his mark in every match, whether by scoring goals or making way for them.
The wily forward forms a formidable duo in the company of Syrian star Al Somah, who joined Al Arabi from Jeddah side Al Ahli at the beginning of this season. And Qatari coach Younes Ali relies on them to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of the club’s passionate fans.
Despite the absence of Abdulaziz Al Ansari due to an injury, Msakni and Al Somah demonstrated the team’s offensive strength through mutual understanding.
The question now is ‘will Msakni continue his outstanding form and guide Al Arabi to the league triumph that has been eluding them for many seasons?’
