Al Markhiya coach Abdullah Mubarak spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 16 match against Al Wakrah.

“The match will not be easy and will be strong between the two sides. Al Wakrah are a strong team, plays team football, and have distinguished scorers such as Algerian Mohamed Benyettou and Angolan Jacinto Dala, and the decline in Al Wakrah’s results in the past rounds will not affect our play.

“Our team’s ambition is to be in a good position at the end of the season, and to reach the farthest point according to our capabilities. The important thing in the remaining nine matches is that the team play against leading teams, which are Al Duhail, Al Arabi, Al Sadd and Qatar SC, and now against Al Wakrah.

“The morale of the players is good and they have great confidence to present an honorable level and achieve a positive result,” said Abdullah Mubarak.

Al Markhiya player Ayoub Assal said, “The match against Al Wakrah is considered strong and its full points are very important to us.

“The match will be difficult in view of Al Wakrah’s desire to win as well, but we are very confident that our team will perform a good level to achieve victory and gain the match points we need at this important stage of the league.

“Our ambitions are great in the league and we are striving very seriously to collect the largest number of points to finish the league while we are in a good position, and this will be achieved with more efforts from one match to another.”
