Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 19 match against Al Shamal.

“We realize the importance and difficulty of this match, especially since we will face an organized team that has great players in all departments and distinguished technical staff, so intense focus must be our weapon in this game.

“We consider the remaining matches in the league championship as final and now we do not have time. The teams competing for fourth place are Qatar SC and Al Gharafa, and both of them have a great desire to finish the season in the top four, which is the same as our desire, so the struggle will be great in the remaining rounds. We should not ignore any point,” said Marquez.

Al Wakrah player Omid Ebrahimi said, “The team is ready to overcome this obstacle because of the importance of match points and the desire to be back on winning path.

“We underwent strong training over the past week and are fully prepared for this match. We respect Al Shamal due to their great technical and physical capabilities, but we are determined to win.

“My return to the stadiums was not as easy as some expected, because I was absent for three to four months and I succeeded in the last period in regaining my physical and technical fitness. Now I am 100 per cent ready and I hope to help my team-mates achieve victories in the coming period, so we can finish among the top four.”
