Al Sadd coach Juan Manuel Lillo ‘Juanma’ spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 15 match against Al Ahli.

“Every week, each competitor has unique characteristics which makes every match a challenge for us. The Al Ahli match will be difficult and strong as happened in the first leg, and we will work to do our best to achieve victory.

“Of course, it is important for us to maintain the series of victories and the way we win is also equally important. Our only focus at present is on our next match against Al Ahli.

“Before each game, we choose 11 players who we believe are the most suitable to ensure victory. We always aim to choose our strongest squad taking into account any (there are) any injuries or suspensions.

“We are developing from one match to another and our goal is to maintain the series of recent victories in order to get close to the top of the standings,” said Juanma.

Al Sadd player Ali Asad said, “We are going through an excellent period. We have won the last six matches in the league championship and the Qatar Cup semifinal. Now, an important match awaits us against Al Ahli, and all matches are like finals for us.

“We lost many points in the first leg of the league due the absence of many of our players who were in the national team. Currently we are in a good period as one team and our goal is to win the next match against Al Ahli which will certainly be a difficult one.

“My goal is always to help the team and be useful. I do not care about the number of minutes I play. The most important thing is to help achieve victory.”
