Al Wakrah coach Ali Rahma Al Marri spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 21 match against Al Gharafa.
“I thank the club management, represented by His Excellency the club president and head of football, for the great confidence they gave me by choosing me as coach of the first team. I hope that I will live up to the expectations and provide the required addition to the team.
“This selection is an honour and an assignment at the same time, and I stress that the task is not easy, but we will be up to the responsibility. God-willing, we will be able to help the team achieve positive results, starting with the next Al Gharafa match.
“The team is fully prepared to play the Al Gharafa match and although we have some important absences due to suspensions, our confidence in the rest of the players is limitless, and the truth is that what I observed from them during training in the past few days calls for optimism and reassurance and raises confidence levels.
“We have six points available in the league championship and we will strive to obtain them to improve our position in the top four. We will also compete in the Qatar Cup and Amir Cup, and we will strive to compete in them with full force,” said Al Marri.
Al Wakrah captain Ahmed Fadel said, “Our preparations for this match did not differ much from the preparation for any other match, except for some technical matters related to the details of this match.
“Everyone within the team noticed during the past few days the positive changes that occurred due to the change in the technical staff, and I believe that the team will benefit a lot from this change, especially since coach Ali Al Marri is no stranger to the team. We hope that we will have success in returning to our usual level.”
