Al Wakrah defeated Al Sailiya by a 5-0 margin in Week 11 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League at the Al Wakrah Stadium on Tuesday.

Al Wakrah raised their score to 18 points, while Al Sailiya remained on four points.

The goals were scored by defender Lucas Mendes in the 37th and 52nd minutes, Mohamed Benyettou (64th minute), Khaled Munir (67th minute) and Jacinto Dala (74th minute).

It was an opportunity for both teams to compensate for their loss in Week 9, where Al Wakrah lost to leaders Al Arabi and Al Sailiya lost to Al Ahli by an identical 1-2 margin.

It may be recalled that the Week 10 matches were postponed.

Al Wakrah’s Spanish coach Marquez Lopez was keen that his team garnered full points in order to keep their spot in the top four and they kept their third spot in the table.

On the other hand, Al Sailiya, who were going through a bad patch, themselves compounded their woes as they were rooted to the bottom of the league table.

Al Wakrah attacked from the word go, with Algerian Benyettou, Mendes and the like making their way into the rival territory.

The Blue Wave pressed hard and went ahead after Al Sailiya goalkeeper made a mistake in pushing the ball away following a corner kick from the right side and Mendes made no mistake in finding the target.

In the second half, Al Wakrah continued their superiority and soon added the second goal, again through Mendes.

Al Wakrah did not have to wait for long for their third goal as Benyettou scoreed with an individual effort past the hour mark.

Khaled Munir and Dala then rounded off the tally to present themselves a well-deserved victory.
