Al Ahli coach Nebojsa Jovovic spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 9 match against Al Sailiya.

“We did not deserve to lose against Al Arabi in the last round. We played well, but were not lucky enough to win.

“I was satisfied with the players’ performance and we should focus more on correcting mistakes in order to get back to the winning path in the league. The match against Al Sailiya will be different from the previous match.

“The Al Sailiya match will not be easy and is very important for both teams. Al Sailiya are a good team that play to win.

“Al Ahli will do everything in order to score victory and get back to the winning path. At the same time, we are learning lessons and all our players are fully focused on getting the best result,” said Nebojsa.

Al Ahli player Eslam Yassein said, “We will go into the match with full concentration to win, so we can be back on track. We played well against Al Arabi in the last match, but missed the final touch to score more goals.

“The team learned from the mistakes (of wasting opportunities in front of the goal) and will be fully focused. Al Sailiya are a strong team and we must stay focused against them, especially because they play collectively despite their bad results in the league. So, we will have to play in the best way in order to achieve victory.

“We learned a lot from the Al Arabi game and do not want to repeat the mistakes against Al Sailiya.”
