Al Markhiya face Al Ahli in Week 11 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League at the Al Duhail Stadium on Monday, January 23. The kick-off is at 19:00.

While Al Ahli are in the top four, Al Markhiya are ninth and would aim to challenge their rivals. Both teams would be looking for a win eyeing the valuable three points and that is expected to add thrill to the contest.

Al Markhiya, who will be in action for the first time after the break, have some top players – both foreign professionals and locals, who add to their attacking strength.

Al Ahli have also been showcasing their striking abilities being served by Jordanian striker Yazan Al Naimat and Iranian defender Mohammed Hossein Kanaani.

Al Ahli have recorded three wins and four draws and lost two games so far to take their points tally to 13. Their last win (2-1) came at the expense of Al Sailiya.

In contrast, Al Markhiya are ninth in the table, but have played two matches less. They have eight points having won two matches, scored as many draws and lost three matches.

Al Markhiya, under Qatari coach Abdullah Mubarak, have been presenting very impressive levels since the beginning of the season. They achieved remarkable victories over Al Sadd and Al Rayyan in the initial rounds.

The team strengthened its ranks during the winter transfers by including three new defenders in Ali Nasser Al Marri, Yassin Yaqoub and Khaled Radwan.

Al Ahli coach Nebojsa Jovovic is well aware of the difficulty of the contest with Al Markhiya and will push with his striking force hoping for his players to pave the way in a very strong game between the teams.
