Al Rayyan coach Poya Asbaghi spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 4 match against Al Shahania.
“We have returned to the league after the international break. Of course, we had some matches in the QSL Cup, but the league is the tournament we are looking at. As for the match against Al Shahania, the competitors are a team with an identity.
“Looking at the three matches they played in the league, you will find that they are a team that is difficult to defeat. They did not create many opportunities, but they defend well and only conceded a goal against Al Wakrah. They defend very well, so we have to be good tactically.
“I am happy with the new signings, which I consider an addition to the team. Al Rayyan need a large list of players during the season due to their participation in many tournaments, especially the AFC Champions League Elite,” said Asbaghi.
Al Rayyan player Hazem Ahmed said, “The players are ready to face Al Shahania. We have prepared well, not only for the Al Shahania match, but also for the AFC Champions League Elite and the league. As for the Al Shahania match, we aspire to win and present a level that satisfies the fans and the technical and administrative staff. We are ready and we seek to be in the top four.
“The players benefited from the league break, as the coach included many players. Victory over Al Shahania will be important for the team before facing Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia.”
