The excitement continued in the 2024-2025 season of the Ooredoo Stars League as the competition advanced to its third round, played on Thursday and Friday, August 22 and 23, 2024. The six matches played during this week were highly thrilling and fiercely contested.

All six matches ended with victories, with no draws recorded. This round marked the inaugural wins for Qatar SC, Al Gharafa, and Al Wakrah, while Al Duhail, Qatar SC and Al Sadd also maintained clean sheets.
Additionally, a total of 14 goals were netted throughout the matches, 24 yellow cards were issued and the single red card of the round was awarded to Al Shahania’s Hossam Kamal during his team's encounter with Al Wakrah, marking the first expulsion of the season.
The biggest win was recorded by Al Sadd, who won with a score of 5-0. Additionally, three matches concluded with a score of 1-0, while two matches ended with a score of 2-1. Al Sadd’s striker Rafa Mujica scored a hat-trick, and he is leading the scorers’ chart with a total of five goals, followed closely by Baghdad Bounedjah, Al Shamal’s striker, who has netted four goals.
In terms of standings, Al Duhail retained their top position with three consecutive victories, accumulating nine points. Al Ahli followed in second place with seven points, while Al Sadd secured third with six points. Al Wakrah occupied the fourth position with five points, and Al Gharafa was fifth with four points. Al Shamal, Umm Salal, Al Rayyan, and Qatar SC each garnered three points, whereas Al Khor, Al Shahaniya, and Al Arabi found themselves at the bottom of the table, each with two points.
Al Duhail commenced the round by achieving their third consecutive victory, defeating Umm Salal 1-0 due to an own goal by Umm Salal's striker, Victor Lekhal. This victory allowed Al Duhail to maintain their lead, showcasing a commendable level of performance throughout the recent rounds. In contrast, Umm Salal have only recorded one victory, which occurred in the second round, having lost in both the first and third rounds.
Al Sadd also secured a significant victory against Al Arabi, continuing their strong performance after achieving their second consecutive win, which allowed them to recover from an initial loss in the first week. Following a commanding win over Qatar SC in the second week, they triumphed over Al Arabi in Week 3.
In a remarkable display, Al Sadd established their dominance in the first half by scoring three goals. They maintained this momentum in the second half, adding two more goals to secure a valuable victory over Al Arabi, who are yet to register a win this season, having recorded two draws and one loss.
Meanwhile, Qatar SC celebrated their first victory of the season by defeating Al Shamal, following two losses in the opening rounds. This marked the second consecutive defeat for Al Shamal, who had previously lost to Umm Salal, allowing Qatar SC to earn their first three points.
Al Gharafa achieved their maiden win by beating Al Rayyan 2-1. They demonstrated resilience by turning around a one-goal deficit to clinch victory in a match regarded as one of their strongest performances. This win came after a draw in the first round and a loss to Al Ahli, while Al Rayyan faced their second consecutive defeat after winning against Umm Salal in the first week.
Al Ahli continued their impressive run of form by securing their second consecutive victory, triumphing over Al Khor with a score of 2-1. This win brought The Brigadiers' total to seven points, comprising two wins and one draw, allowing them to maintain their position in second place, trailing only Al Duhail, the current leader. In contrast, Al Khor remained stagnant with two points, having recorded two draws and one loss.
In another match, Al Wakrah achieved a thrilling victory against Al Shahania, with the solitary goal from Ricard Gomes. This marked The Blue Wave’s first win of the season, elevating their points total to five and propelling them to fourth place. Meanwhile, Al Shahania experienced their first defeat after managing two draws in the opening weeks of the competition.
