Al Shahania coach Alvaro Mejia spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 2 match against Al Khor.

“We know each other from the second division, but the two teams have changed a lot since our last match due to the many changes that have occurred in the players of the two teams, and the match will not be easy.

“Our main goal is to remain in the Ooredoo Stars League and the league will be very difficult, so we will move forward step by step towards our goal. As for the competition in the league and based on what we saw in the first round, obtaining match points is difficult for everyone, as the teams presented similar levels and the competition will not be easy in the league,” said Alvaro Mejia.

Al Shahania player Mohammed Bader Sayyar said, “The team’s preparations to face Al Khor are good and the players are seeking to implement the coach’s tactical plans on the field in order to obtain the result the team desires. The match is difficult given that Al Khor have succeeded in contracting with good players and have a good team.

“We aspire to present the best and win the match, and the atmosphere is very positive, and there is unity between the players on and off the pitch, and I expect this unity to be a positive point and a point of strength for the players before facing Al Khor.

“Our goal is clear, which is to remain in the league, and that the results of the first division will greatly affect the ambitions of the players and the team in general.”
