Al Wakrah coach Miguel Angel spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 2 match against Al Arabi.
“We spent a lot of time reviewing the previous match, and we are trying to review the mistakes and also review the good decisions that we made in the match in order to work on repeating them, and this is of course to amend and develop all the positive things.
“We must develop our fitness, not only physically, but by increasing the playing minutes for the new players because the new arrivals need time to adapt and harmonize, and this applies to the players and coaches, to play together and get to know each other better, with increasing the number of training hours and playing more matches, the team will harmonize with each other, which leads to better results and we will be accustomed to playing together.
“I think they have a good attack, and they have enough ability to work on excelling and advancing. They are fast players and have the ability to change sides and play deep, in addition to enjoying dynamic play. I also believe that the team has some weaknesses that we can exploit to our advantage,” said Miguel Angel.
Al Wakrah goalkeeper Mohammed Al Bakri said, “Our preparations were good for this match and we tried with the coach to correct the mistakes we made in the first game and we were aware of the difficulty of the first match in the league, but the journey is still long.
“I am confident that we will appear in the required image and reap the three points. What happened in the first match is normal for the opening matches in which most of the team is not technically and physically ready.”
