Al Wakrah coach Miguel Angel spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 3 match against Al Shahania.
“We are constantly developing in terms of building the attack and defence, and I confirm our readiness for this match, especially since we spent more time in training and matches. This is a positive thing considering that with the presence of new arrivals among players and technical staff, the process may take some time, and we will improve during each week. I am confident that we will reap the three points in the upcoming match.
“Before this match, I focused on the offensive organization, in terms of positioning and possession and working on creating opportunities, this is one of the most important things for me that we must develop. Of course, we must also develop the defensive system and make it more effective. For me, it is important to develop the positioning and offensive organization,” said Angel.
Al Wakrah striker Ricardo Gomes said, “Al Shahaniya are strong and we are ready to overcome this obstacle.
“We know the opponents’ style of play, they play defensively and build their attack from the goalkeeper. We must play this match with high concentration for 90 minutes because this way we can get the three points, and this is all we want and deserve, so that we can be more confident in the upcoming matches.
“Of course, we can overcome the opponents’ defence as you can see that Al Wakrah have good quality players at the highest level in the attack line and I think we need more time to harmonize in terms of playing. I joined the team recently and I am new to the system, and this necessitates that we get to know each other better and I believe that we will score in this match.
“I feel very comfortable within the team and, as I said before, the circumstances were a bit difficult in the previous matches, because everything is new to me and even for the team due to the presence of a completely new technical team, new players and new ideas. But in general, I feel that things are going for the better and I hope that the results will improve quickly.”
